Dry Suit Diver
**own dry suit is required**
Overview
The purpose of the PADI Dry Suit Diver specialty course is to familiarise
divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organisation, procedures,
techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of diving with a
dry suit. The Dry Suit Diver specialty course is intended to serve as a
training program that emphasises adventure and fun while establishing
the benefits of dry suit diving and developing the skills required.
Prerequisites
Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water
Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organisation.
Be 12 years of age or older.
The objectives of PADI Dry Suit training
A. To develop the student's knowledge of dry suits — when to use
dry suits, types of dry suits available, dry suit accessories, their
maintenance, and how to make minor repairs.
B. To develop the student’s ability to perform the skills needed, or
that may be needed, when diving in a dry suit.
C. To enable the student diver to plan, organise and conduct dives
using a dry suit.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, the PADI Dry Suit
Diver Specialty certification card is awarded.
You have been trained to plan, organise, conduct and log open water dives using a dry suit in conditions
generally comparable to, or better than,
those you were trained in.
Apply for the rating of Master Scuba
Diver if:
You are a PADI Advanced Open Water
Diver (or have a qualifying certification from
another organisation) and a PADI Rescue Diver
(or have a qualifying certification from another
organisation) with certification in four other PADI
Specialty ratings in addition to Dry Suit Diver.
