Overview

More people are diving with enriched air and this means the demand for enriched (nitrox) air fills is also increasing. However, there needs to be someone qualified to administer these fills to meet this demand. The DSAT Gas Blender course develops the student's ability to competently blend enriched and helium-blend gases using one or more blending methods available to the dive industry. It is not intended to replace equipments training required by manufacturers of gas blending equipment.

Prerequisites

Be at least 18 years old
Certified as PADI Enriched Air Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organisation.

Objectives

Blend enriched air and/or helium blends including trimix within 1% of the target mix as measured by oxygen content, following accepted safety protocols and standards.
List the advantages and disadvantages of different blending methodologies.
Explain the potential hazards related to handling oxygen, and how to manage those hazards.
Explain the steps for oxygen cleaning equipment such as cylinders, regulators, partial pressure blending systems etc.
Describe the requirements for oxygen service.
Achieve 80% or higher on the DSAT Gas Blender Examination.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive the DSAT Gas Blender Enriched Air or Trimix certification card.
Operate and mix enriched air or Trimix at a gas blending facility.
