Enriched Air (Nitrox 40%) Diver

PADI description Enriched Air Diver

Course Overview

This course is designed to qualify recreational divers to use enriched air (“nitrox”) for no stop recreational diving. The program addresses the use of enriched air with 22 percent to 40 percent oxygen, with emphasis on enriched air with 32 and 36 percent oxygen. For divers, the attraction of nitrox, is that more oxygen means the diver can stay at depth for longer periods which means more time to enjoy the reefs and marine life. Best of all, is diver fatigue is reduced substantially.

Prerequisites

Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, or have a qualifying certification from another training
organisation, or have successfully completed Training Dives 1 through to 3 in the PADI Open Water Diver course and be completing the combined Training Dive 4/Enriched Air Training Dive 1 option. Students completing this option must be certified as PADI Open Water Divers prior to Enriched Air Training Dive 2.
Be 15 years of age or older.

Objectives

To be successful on the exam, the student must either score 100 percent initially, or score 75 percent or higher and have each question missed explained until mastery is achieved.
Students must complete the two Enriched Air Knowledge reviews which will be retained in the student record file.
Plan an enriched air dive using the RDP DSAT Equipment Air Depth and Oxygen Exposure Tables and Enriched Air RDP's.
Analyse enriched air.
Calculate repetitive group and oxygen exposure at end of the dive.
